| Ruri.is
The artist Ruri gained public notoriety at the 2003 Venice Biennale with her work Archive – endangered waters, which was installed in the Icelandic pavilion of the Giardini. In her artistic creation she has never confined herself to a single medium. She expresses her ideas through performances, multi media, sculptures, environmental art on a grand scale, or installations – all of them always based on clear conceptual premises. Some of the best known outdoor artworks of Ruri are the Rainbow, at the International Air Terminal in Keflavik reaching 24 metres up into the sky, and Waterfall in Reykjavik Botanical Garden. She makes powerful installations such as Glassrain which was exhibited at the National Gallery of Art, Iceland in 2001, and Paradise? – When? that was exhibited at Reykjavik Art Museum 1998. Multi media installations of the Endangered Waters series as well as multi media performances have in recent years been exhibited in Europe, Asia and US.
